McDonald’s don’t tend to take too many risks with regards to their business model.
They have a small, simple menu that people all around the world absolutely love. Chicken nuggets, burgers, fries, milkshakes. You can’t really go wrong with that.
But they have made the bold move to open a spinoff restaurant entitled CosMc’s, with stores opening across the US this month.
So how’s it going down amongst customers? Firstly, the food and drinks there aren’t to act as a rival to McDonald’s. They claim to be selling light snacks and beverages for an ‘afternoon treat’, so it could be more similar to a Starbuck’s than a fast-food joint.
The Guardian weren’t exactly inspired in their review, writing: “None of CosMc’s’ foods surpassed middling recollections of other fast foods – the “McPops” doughnuts tasted like a good gas station doughnut (if you can ignore the unnatural-tasting added apple flavoring in one variety) and the Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich isn’t a far stretch from something Starbucks might offer.”
One social media user described one of the beverages by saying: “I had never tried a drink that made my mouth drier while drinking it.”

However some people said it was worth the long wait that it took, due to the massive crowds showing up to the new spot.
“The staff was friendly, the sandwiches were great and the drinks were surprisingly really good”, said TikTok user CaiEatsChi.
With mixed reviews like that, you might just have to try for yourself if there is a CosMc’s in your area.
