The Financial Secretary said that Hong Kong will continue to attract and support international and large-scale arts and cultural events through the Mega Arts and Cultural Events Fund.
This fund, first launched in April 2023, has updated its assessment criteria to ensure that funded events promote tourism and provide economic benefits.
Paul Chan also revealed plans for the second edition of the Performing Arts Expo next year.
“We will organize the second edition of the Expo, transforming the event into a flagship of our arts and cultural industries,” he said.
Chan added that the government will also support creators and producers in advancing over 30 cultural intellectual property (IP) projects over the next five years.
In terms of film industry development, Chan noted that over HK$1.3 billion has been approved to support more than 120 film projects.
These initiatives have involved over 110 new directors and producers, resulting in films that have collectively won more than 180 awards.
