RICHARDTON, N.D. (KFYR) – Every year, the North Dakota Long Term Care Association awards a medical worker the Caregiver Award.
The board selected Activities Director Jessica Schmidt this year. Coworkers surprised her with the award on Wednesday.
“She has just demonstrated going above and beyond, not just for the residents, but for their families, and even our staff,” said Mandy Robinson, Richardton Health Center’s Administrator.
Three people nominated Schmidt. They praised her commitment to patients and efforts to make them feel comfortable. Robinson said this includes writing new residents a biography when they come to Richardton Health Center.
“Really, it’s a great feeling to know that you make a difference enough for them to take the time, them or their families, to nominate me for something like this… to take time out of their day. To take time out of their day to nominate me for something like this… it’s just such a good feeling, to know that you’re making a difference,” Schmidt said.
There were nearly 550 nominees this year.
