Road conditions in the Heartland 2/16


(KFVS) – A wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow caused slick roads in the Heartland on Friday, February 16.

Missouri

Thunder was heard in Cape Girardeau just before rain turned to sleet and then some snow.

Illinois

The McLeansboro Fire Department along with other first responders in Hamilton County are handling multiple traffic crashes. They ask everyone to stay off the road, if possible.

The Franklin County sheriff said deputies are responding to numerous crashes throughout the county. He asked drivers to slow down and use caution.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also reported roads were snow covered. They encouraged people not to travel unless it’s necessary.

The Mount Vernon Police Department said there have been numerous crashes and stuck vehicles on the road throughout the city and county. Due to the rate of snow fall, they said plows won’t be able to keep up with clearing the roads.
