Rochester, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health is making strides against breast cancer as they held a walk on Sunday.
The walk took place at Innovative Field and began at 10 a.m. as many people showed up to express their support.
Anne Savastano who’s been a 42-year survivor of breast cancer is proud that people are uniting together.
“Coming together through so much strength and hope,” said Savastano. “Seeing people coalesce around a critical issue and supporting each other and that you’re not alone, they’re others willing to support”.
Many people who attended today’s walk understand what the fight is like and how much it means to give back.
“Because of her, I was able to start in the health care field and just giving back and giving support and not only her but all the survivors,” said Angely Rodriguez, a Rochester, N.Y. resident, whose mother spent seven years fighting breast cancer.
“We just think it’s fundamental cause, said Stacy Julian, a Webster, N.Y. resident. “We have many friends and family that have been affected by breast cancer”
Sunday’s walk had around 8,000 walkers and $375,000 was raised for the walk.
