Andrey Rublev will face Botic Van de Zandschulp at the 2023 Rolex Paris Masters this week. This will be a round-of-sixteen match in the tournament. Rublev enters the match as a clear favorite (bet365). However, Van de Zandschulp did get a big win over Tommy Paul in the previous round. My Rublev vs Van de Zandschulp prediction is that the former will win this upcoming match in straight sets.

Andrey Rublev: Recent Tournament Results
Rublev played very well in the last Masters Series event, the 2023 Shanghai Masters. He had a championship point in early October but failed to capitalize on it. He did not seem to take any baggage away from that as he played well in Vienna last week, only losing to the eventual champion in the tourney. That is two straight events where only the eventual tournament champion was able to take the Russian out. He will be looking to be the champion in Paris but it seems safe to say that it will take a very talented player to eliminate Rublev from a draw right now.

Andrey Rublev vs Botic Van de Zandschulp Head-to-Head Series
Rublev and Van de Zandschulp have faced one another three times in the past. Rublev is 1-2 in the series but only one of their matches is recent. Rublev claimed a win over Van de Zandschulp in Dubai this season, a win that came in straight sets.
One of Van de Zandschulp’s match wins over Rublev came in 2017. At that time, the Russian was still developing on tour and not much should be read into that qualifying draw result from several years ago now.

Rublev vs Van de Zandschulp Prediction: Rublev 2-0
Rublev’s first match in Paris can only be considered to be a warm-up. He barely needed more than an hour to defeat Yoshihito Nishioka. The Russian fired 12 aces in a match that only had 104 points. The fact that Rublev had a bye through the first round and enjoyed such a routine win in the second round, should mean he is very fresh for the round-of-sixteen match upcoming.
My recommendation is to take Rublev for a straight-set win at -150 (bet365). If the sets are competitive, then I would expect Rublev to have more energy at the business end of a tiring set. Furthermore, I don’t expect Van de Zandschulp to make quick work of Rublev. The sets in this match should either be quick in Rublev’s favor or laborious — but still in Rublev’s favor.
