On a TV special that played on Saturday night, four women gave more details about the horrifying sexual assault claims against the English comedian Russell Brand. This led to a lot of criticism of Brand.
In an article published on Friday by The Sunday Times, the women said that the 48-year-old comedian raped, sexually assaulted, and emotionally abused them. They talked about their experiences with the comedian on Russell Brand: In Plain Sight, a long investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times, and Channel 4.
One woman remembered a time when Brand “grabbed” her and helped her get into bed. Then, he “held [her] down” and “aggressively” tried to force himself on her.
Another accuser said that Brand ignored her pleas to “get off” while “holding [her] up against a wall.” She also said that he attacked her after that.
A third victim told of a terrifying time when The Trews host “forced” his private parts down her throat until she “couldn’t breathe.”
“He was just choking me,” said the woman. “I was crying and he said, ‘Oh, I only wanted to see your mascara run anyway.’”
The TV special then showed a short clip from one of Brand’s stand-up comedy shows from 2006. In it, he made a joke about how women’s makeup runs down their faces when they have oral sex.
One of the claimed rapes happened in Brand’s Los Angeles home about five months after he divorced Katy Perry in 2012.
The special came out a day after the first expose and just a few hours after the star of Arthur spoke out about the claims and strongly denied them.
He had also said that all of the relationships he had in his “promiscuous” past “were absolutely always consensual.”
The women also said that they had “never, ever” spoken out about what Brand had done because he was “untouchable.”
