RWC art show features 300 works by LES students

Lancaster Elementary School (LES) visual arts teacher Marilyn Sprouse has proudly curated student artwork for Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury’s December show for a quarter century.

And she’s just as enthusiastic as she was for that first show in 1999.

“This show is a good one!” she said. “I am very excited and have so many wonderful pieces to share.”

The show includes creations by almost every student in kindergarten, including paper collage, drawings, pumpkin patch or painting.

The exhibit includes glue and watercolor painting and feathered friends by third graders; collage and self-portraits by fourth graders; and plate design and pop art portraits by fifth graders.

The students are prolific and Sprouse teaches 130 children per day.

There will be about 300 works on display in Gallery Hall, RWC, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington, starting Sunday, December 1. Residents and community members are invited to….
