For the first time in 15 years, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welsh soccer team has been moved up to the English Football League.
Reynolds and McElhenney bought the Wrexham soccer team in 2021. The team has won enough games this season to move up to a professional league.
On Saturday, Wrexham beat a team called Boreham Wood by a score of 3-1. This made them do the happy dance.
Reynolds, who is 46 years old, shared his happiness on Instagram. “Everything I own smells like champagne, beer, and grass. I’m still somewhere between giggling and sobbing. This town and this sport are one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @wrexham_afc,” the actor who plays Deadpool wrote in the post’s comments.
McElhenney, who is 45 years old, shared his emotional response to the win and promotion news on Instagram Story. He said, “Smoke must’ve gotten into my eyes.”
FX’s 2022 series will be about Reynolds and McElhenney’s now-famous ownership. Willkommen in Wrexham.
