BETHLEHEM — Aaron Talbert’s 12 points helped the Saint Francis men’s basketball team defeat Lehigh, 62-61, on Wednesday night.
Cam Gregory drained three foul shots, after being fouled on a 3-point attempt, with 10 seconds left for the win. He finished with nine points.
Lehigh got a 3-point shot at the buzzer but missed. Freshman Aidan Harris got the rebound, his 15th of the game, to seal the victory for the Flash.
“Cam is our leader. He is the guy with the most experience and the great thing was that other guys stepped up. He was carrying us really well in the first seven games of the season. He blocked everything out and made those free throws that was really big for us,” SFU coach Rob Krimmel said.
The win improved the Red Flash to 3-5 while the Mountain Hawks fell to 1-6.
Talbert was 4 of 8 shooting, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 2 for 4 from the line for the Red Flash (3-5).
Freshman Bobby Rosenberger III added 11 points while shooting 3 for 11 (2 for 9 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free throw line. He also had five rebounds in a game the Red Flash trailed at the break, 30-28.
Teammate Eli Wilborn shot 4 of 7 from the field and 2 for 3 from the line to finish with 10 points, despite fouling out.
Keith Higgins Jr. led the Mountain Hawks (1-6) in scoring, finishing with 24 points.
“It’s a big win for you guys. I’m happy for you guys. It’s about stringing plays together, possession together and stringing games together,” Krimmel said to his team. “When everybody has a passion for something and is pulling in the same direction the sky is the limit. When you are pulling to the middle that passion and that togetherness the results are what you just saw so remember this feeling.” The Red Flash are back on the road Saturday with a 2 p.m. game at American University.
