Salary increases part of ask to county finance committee for sheriff, clerk

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is hoping to keep up with the expected growth in the county, but Sheriff John Ward said the department already is lagging behind other law enforcement agencies in the area.

In order to compete and meet the anticipated need, Ward made a presentation Tuesday evening to Hardin Fiscal Court members at a Finance Committee meeting asking for $900,000 to hire six more staff and give current staff raises.
