Samuel L. Jackson and Dave Bautista will appear on the big screen together.
Dave Bautista, who starred in Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune, has found his next big-canvas action film in Afterburn, a post-apocalyptic adventure.
This film also stars Oscar winner Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained, The Hitman’s Bodyguard).
It takes place ten years after a solar flare wipes out the world’s technology. Bautista will play former soldier Jake, a treasure hunter who rescues valuable relics from the past for affluent clientele. His most recent mission is to collaborate with Drea, a freedom fighter, to reclaim the Mona Lisa before a crazed warlord does.
The film is based on the same-titled Red 5 comic/graphic novel series. Jackson will portray Valentine, a freedom fighter.
J.J. Perry, who recently wrapped filming on Lionsgate’s The Killer’s Game, which also stars Bautista, will direct the project.
Perry is well-known for his work as a second unit director and stunt coordinator in the Fast & Furious and John Wick films.
Perry made his directorial debut in 2022 with the Netflix action-comedy Day Shift, which stars Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, and Snoop Dogg.
