EAST PALO ALTO — A San Bruno woman who physically fought her cousin before driving into her with her car has been found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Rubye Denise Price, 30, was convicted by a jury Monday on the eighth day of her trial in Redwood City. She was found not guilty on charges of attempted murder and attempted voluntary manslaughter.
The conviction comes after Price got into a fight with her cousin on April 28, 2022. Both women were dating the same man, according to prosecutors.
Price drove to her cousin’s East Palo Alto home, where they fought in the driveway. Other people who were present separated the women and Price then entered her vehicle.
Her cousin followed her into the car before a man dragged her out. Price then reversed the vehicle, knocking both the woman and man down. The woman then stood up and tried to run home, prosecutors said.
At that point, Price turned the vehicle around and drove it into the woman, pushing her through a chainlink fence, pinning her against another car and telling her to “die.” Price later drove off and the woman suffered a broken leg.
Price will be sentenced in a hearing on Dec. 7. She remained held in custody on no-bail status.
