Sarah Jessica Parker has always celebrated the art of the accessory.
The actor and shoe designer has personal favorites she keeps in continual rotation, whether it be for a casual (but stylish) errand run in New York City or a red carpet photo op. Pearl necklaces, vintage brooches, and of course, standout shoes are some of her wardrobe mainstays.
Now, Parker has teamed up with accessories brand Lele Sadoughi to design and curate a collection of shoe clips, embellished barrettes, brooches, headbands, and more. For Parker, the collaboration was a natural extension of her personal style.
“I’ve been wearing vintage brooches and earrings as shoe clips for as long as I can remember,” Parker tells Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s a quick and simple way to take an already beautiful shoe and really make it your own. There are so many items we already own that are versatile and can be worn in more ways than one—we hope this collection inspires people to do just that.”
Her brand SJP Collection is known for its embellished stilettos and platform Mary Janes, while Sadoughi embraces all things maximal, colorful, and joyful. The capsule brings together the best of both labels in their dressiest form.
“We worked hard to incorporate vibrant colors, exciting materials, interesting shapes, and beautiful designs that really spoke to both Lele Sadoughi and SJP Collection,” Parker says. “There were pieces that were a no-brainer—bows! And other items we arrived at after many discussions and experiments.”
For Lisa “Lele” Sadoughi, the goal of the collaboration was to give each specific piece—whether a feminine pearl-encrusted bow or a hand-dyed flower—a personality “to fit your mood or look of the day.”
“It’s been a dream to share designs that encourage self-expression and feeling confident,” Sadoughi says. “What better way to do this than with Sarah Jessica Parker?”
While Parker doesn’t consider herself a maximalist (“My daily uniform is a pair of jeans and a gray sweatshirt,” she says), that doesn’t stop her from being adventurous with accessories.
“When the occasion calls, I do love to use jewelry and accessories to elevate a look. It’s an easy way to take a seemingly ‘boring’ canvas and turn it into a work of art,” she explains. Currently, she’s updating her outfits with the capsule’s crystal brooches. “I’ve already worn them out, on both my SJP Collection shoes and clipped to an old dress of mine for an event. I was also surprised by our Starburst earring—I don’t often wear big earrings, but I fell in love with these when we saw the first sample. The stone color is perfection, and they look beautiful on everyone.”
With the holiday season around the corner, these party-ready pieces are all perfect components to dress up one’s winter wardrobe. While Parker isn’t someone who “necessarily puts together a holiday ensemble,” she says, she does have an idea in mind for upcoming parties and events.
“I’d probably wear a beautiful vintage dress—that feels like something really special and appropriate to wear,” she says. She can’t help but share one of her favorite New York City spots for anyone looking to find their own: Madame Matovu, in the West Village. “Every time I’m there I find a treasure!” ‘Tis the season for sparkle.
