‘Saturday Night Live’ Welcomes Emma Stone Back in a Spirit of Complete Revelation

In the first Saturday Night Live teaser, Emma Stone appears to be celebrating her upcoming return.

Noah Kahan, star of The Poor Things and musical guest this Saturday, will host Saturday Night Live. Stone has previously hosted four episodes of the NBC sketch show, the most recent of which aired in April 2019 as part of season 44 and featured performances by the Korean singing group BTS. Her attendance will entitle her to membership in the prestigious Five-Timers Club.

In the monochrome video, which was released on Wednesday, Stone enters the stage on the Studio 8H stage in a dramatic approach. “What’s the secret to comedy?” she asks the empty space.

Poor Things, the actress’s most recent picture, will be released in theaters next month. It reunites her with Yorgos Lanthimos, who previously directed Stone’s 2018 film The Favourite. Poor Things also stars Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael, putting Stone back in the running for an Oscar.

SNL, which launched season 49 last month, announced earlier on Wednesday that Adam Driver will host the episode on December 9 with musical guest Olivia Rodrigo, while show alumnae Kate McKinnon will host the episode on December 16 with performances by Billie Eilish.

The most recent episode of the season, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, starring Jason Momoa and featuring music by Tate McRae, premiered on November 18.
