Savannah Music Festival kicks off with range of performances

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – We’re heading into the first weekend of the Savannah Music Festival. The event kicked off last night and will continue through April 13th.

Organizers say this is an event that’s really catered towards everyone, with performances ranging from classical, to jazz, to rock and more.

Friday night, you can enjoy the sounds of Brazilian music, indie rock and the Bayou Boogie.

The festival has partnered with the Savannah Chatham County Public School System, giving students free access to some of the shows.

Students will get the festivals Explorer Pass, allowing them to learn about all different types of music.

Whether you’re a student or not, the festival’s executive director encourages everyone to explore the world of music at this event.

“One of the most fun things about the festival is the notion of discovery. Finding your new favorite band. So, if you see an act on there that you’re not familiar with, give it a try because I’ll tell you what, everything that we bring in here is of the very highest quality, it’s a great example of whatever style or genre it is, and it’s something you’re going to enjoy,” said Gene Dobbs Bradford, the executive director of the Savannah Music Festival.

Those students in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System will have access to any of the general admission shows.
