EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — One driver was hospitalized after an SUV failed to stop for a school bus that was picking up students, sparking a chain-reaction crash involving three additional cars and the bus, police said.
The school bus was picking up students at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday on Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township police said in a news release.
A Honda CRV, driven by Yamilet Lora-Salazar, 26, of Ventnor, was heading west in the inside lane of Black Horse Pike near Bayport Drive where the bus was stopped, police said. The bus was in the outside lane with red warning lights flashing and stop sign extended, police said.

Lora-Salazar did not stop for the bus, and her Honda rear-ended a stopped Chevrolet Impala, police said. This created a chain reaction where the Impala then rear-ended a Chevrolet Camaro, which in turn rear-ended a Nissan Rogue, according to police.
The Honda then continued forward and rear-ended the school bus, police said.

No students were injured, police said. The Impala’s driver was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – City Campus for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Lora-Salazar was cited for careless driving, police said.
The crash is being investigated by Officer Nick Poletis, of the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit.
