A scouse schoolboy has created a clothing brand which is quickly gaining fans – even among celebrities.
Leighton Need, 12, from West Derby started his own company, ‘Mountain Eclipse’, after asking his grandad for a small investment. Now, after just over a month of selling hats and hoodies, he’s already made north of £1000 and has almost 3000 followers on Instagram.
The schoolboy-turned-entrepreneur has been referenced online by several famous faces, including O Beach owner and brother of Gary, Wayne Lineker and comedian Adam Rowe. He’s also agreed to sponsor his Saturday league football team’s kits.

Leighton’s dad, Craig Need, told the ECHO: “Leighton’s always drawn and designed. One day he came to me and said that he wanted to make his own brand, so I told him to go for it.
“He went to his grandad and asked for a £100 investment – which he gave him. He went and bought some caps and found an embroidery shop. He came up with the logo and arranged for 12 hats to be made, which all sold out in a day to his mates and people he knows.”
The 12-year-old put the money he initially made into more hats, hoodies and t-shirts, and five weeks later has earned over £1000. Craig said: “It’s doing quite well online. I take him out on deliveries and we even delivered to Lee Butler!”

Leighton told the ECHO: “I wanted to make my own money and had some ideas that I wanted to get out there, so I took my shot. The stuff I sell is in fashion and I make my prices affordable for everyone.
“I didn’t expect it to take off this quick. Going to school and seeing people with my stuff on has been great. It’s also amazing that these famous people like my stuff enough to mention it.
“I’m hoping to keep doing what I’m doing and growing at this speed. I’d like to be my own boss after school.”
