March is National Nutrition Month and Scripps Cancer Center will host a free virtual class on Tuesday, March 18 from noon to 1 p.m. to help cancer patients maintain the best possible nutrition as they go through treatments. Attendees will learn about optimal nutrition and hydration, food flexibility, the importance of adequate protein and calories, and nutritional options to address treatment-related side effects.
Research shows that up to 80% of cancer patients in the United States are malnourished while undergoing treatments, which can hinder their outcomes, according to a news release. The event is open to cancer patients and their friends and family. Attendees must register in advance by calling 1-800-SCRIPPS, or by visiting the event web page at shorturl.at/YPrqo
