Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will get the Global Icon Award at the 2023 Video Music Awards on September 12 in Newark, New Jersey.
Sean has had five #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and one #1 album on the Billboard 200. This year, he is also up for four other awards for his amazing work on Creepin (Remix) and Gotta Move On. MTV says that he has two nods for Best Collaboration and one each for Best Rap and Best R&B.
This is his first appearance at the VMAs since 2005. Before that, in 1997, he did Mo Money, Mo Problems, and then in 2002, he did a mix of Bad Boy for Life.
In 2002, Sean also hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards at Barcelona, Spain’s Palazzo Sant Jordi.
In 1997 and 1998, the singer won VMAs for best R&B video and viewer’s pick.
Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, Mneskin, Shakira, Stray Kids, and Tomorrow X Together are some of the other VMA acts besides Sean.
Shakira will also be given the Video Vanguard Award and will give a live performance.
On the other hand, Sean said that his new record, The Love record: Off the Grid, will come out on September 15.
