SEATTLE — ChrisTiana ObeySumner says their experience living on the streets has positioned them to best tackle the homelessness crisis as a City Council member.
ObeySumner explained their position in a half hour conversation with KOMO News Senior Reporter Chris Daniels at a Greenwood bar.. They are running for the District 5 seat, and looking to replace Debora Juarez who is giving up her seat.
“The biggest barrier for me was that there was only social services available for what folks assumed was the issue? It must be because you have trauma,” said ObeySumner, who also says there should be hygiene facilities and mental health care at camping sites.
They also were not in favor of the recent drug possession law.
