“Hi, Billboard! Thank you guys so, so much for this award,” the Rare Beauty entrepreneur said as she began her acceptance speech.
“This is honestly Rema’s doing,” she claimed of Rema, a 23-year-old Nigerian rapper.
“He chose me to be a part of such an incredible song. So, I want to thank him and thank all of you for streaming and listening and I wish we could be there. But thank you!”
Calm Down was also nominated in four other categories at Sunday’s awards presentation, which is a “reimagined” version of its usual structure, with “performances and award celebrations” in venues around the world, according to the Billboard Music Awards.
The Single Soon singer’s victory comes after she was seen out and about with her bestie Taylor Swift before embarking on her South American leg of the Eras Tour.
Gigi Hadid, Sophie Turner, and Brittany Mahomes were spotted with the Cruel Summer singer and Gomez during a Girls Night Out earlier this month.
The girls’ night out coincided with the Anti-Hero singer’s burgeoning connection with Mahomes, as her romance with Travis Kelce intensifies.
