Shakira Suffers Another Heartbreak Over Gerard Piqué’s New Romance

Shakira’s troubles appear to be far from over as she suffers yet another heartbreak following her mother’s “urgent” hospitalization.

Nidia Ripoll, the mother of the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker, has reportedly been diagnosed with a blood clot linked to deep vein thrombosis. She was taken to the hospital on Friday, March 17, and is now believed to be safe.

Shakira’s 90-year-old father was rushed to the hospital following a bad fall less than a year before Nidia’s medical emergency. Due to her father’s poor health, the Colombian singer decided to postpone her move from Barcelona to Miami with her ten- and nine-year-old sons Milan and Sasha.

Shakira is still recovering from her eleven-year relationship with Gerard Pique. The former couple, who share two sons, reached a custody agreement for their children in November, with the footballer signing a contract allowing him to spend the holidays with Milan and Sasha after 12 hours of negotiations.

According to Gerard and Shakira’s joint statement, “We want to let you know that we have signed a contract that ensures the safety of our children and will be ratified in court as a formality. Our only goal is to ensure they are as safe and secure as possible, and we hope their privacy will be respected.”
