Shakira expressed her profound gratitude after receiving an eye-opening bronze monument in her country of Colombia.

The wax statue of the singer, created by Yino Márques, displays her signature Hips Don’t Lie pose.

Shakira took to Instagram to share a few sweet moments from her statue’s unveiling event in front of her parents.

The musician’s parents, William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll Torrado, can be seen posing alongside the prominent landmark in the first released photo.

“It makes me happy to share this with my parents and especially with my mother on her birthday,” the Waka Waka singer stated.

The carousel of photographs featured a solo shot of Shakira’s big figure, Shakira’s siblings and parents posing with Barranquilla’s mayor, and the statue’s dedication.

The dedication was accompanied by a monument that said, “A heart that composes, hips that do not lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that moves masses and bare feet that march for the good of childhood and humanity.”

“Oh and this dedication, this is too much for my little heart,” the singer of Whenever Wherever wrote.

Notably, Shakira received one of the evening’s most coveted honors, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in September.

At the VMAs, the Colombian singer made history by becoming the first South American musician to collect the prestigious prize.
