SM Entertainment’s exclusive contracts with SHINee’s Taemin and Onew will reportedly be expiring soon.
On March 5, News1 reported that Taemin’s exclusive contract with SM Entertainment will expire by the end of the month. Following the expiration of his contract, Taemin will reportedly continue his activities as an artist under a new agency but continue his group activities with SHINee under SM Entertainment. YTN additionally reported that according to multiple industry insiders, Onew will also wrap up his exclusive contract with SM in the first half of the year.
Furthermore, SPOTV News reported that Taemin will be signing with Big Planet Made Entertainment.
In response to the report of recruiting Taemin into their agency, a representative of Big Planet Made briefly remarked, “Nothing has been decided.”
Onew and Taemin debuted as members of SHINee in 2008, and they have been working together with SM Entertainment for 16 years following multiple contract renewals. SHINee released countless hit songs including “Replay,” “Ring Ding Dong,” “Sherlock,” and more. In addition to their group activities, Onew charmed with his solo music including “O (Circle)” and “Blue,” while Taemin captivated fans as a solo artist with “Move,” “Danger,” “Guilty,” and more.
