Meryl Streep and Don Gummer have been separated since 2017, as revealed by a bombshell announcement from the popular and talented actress.
The couple married in 1978, but they’ve gone their separate ways now, with Streep aged 74 and him 76.
They were last seen in public together in 2018, although Streep appeared at the Princesa de Asturias Awards this year with her wedding ring still being worn.
They had four children together, Henry Wolfe (43), Mamie Gummer (40), Grace Gummer (37) and Louisa Jacobson (30), whom they raised in Salisbury, Connecticut.
Meryl Streep’s break-up announcement
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than six years,” a spokesman for the actress said to PageSix.com
“And while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”
Streep still has gratitude to Gummer
In what would appear to be one of their final engagements together, Streep paid homage to her husband as she won the Oscar for her role as Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady’.
She had won Best Actress and took to the stage to speak about her partner.
“First, I’m going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech, they play him out with music,” she said.
“I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you’ve given me.”
