Singer Tina Turner Dies at the Age of 83

Tina Turner died in Switzerland at the age of 83. She was one of rock’s best singers and most charismatic acts.

“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.” A representative for her confirmed this.

They also said, “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”

The singer, who was born in the United States, was one of rock’s best singers and most charismatic acts. She was known for her electric stage personality and a string of hits, such as “The Best,” “Proud Mary,” “Private Dancer,” and “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”

She first became well-known in the 1960s, when she and her ex-husband Ike Turner sang the famous song “River Deep, Mountain High.”

In the 1970s, the singer’s fame as a solo artist went down, but in the 1980s, she got a second chance when she signed with Capitol Records. Let’s Stay Together by Al Green, which she covered and made a hit, led to her 1984 album Private Dancer, selling more than 10 million copies and making her a megastar.
