SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. – A 52-year-old woman from Washington died in a solo car crash on Highway 44, east of Highway 89 on Monday, CHP Redding said.
At about 2:24 p.m., CHP Redding units responded to a solo car crash on Highway 44, east of Highway 89.
CHP Redding determined that the woman was driving her 1996 Ford Explorer on Highway 44 westbound, east of Highway 89, at an unknown speed. Because she was driving very fast, she lost control of her Ford, left the road, and overturned multiple times in a field before coming to a rest, CHP Redding said.
The driver was not wearing safety equipment, which caused her to be ejected from her Ford, CHP Redding said. She died from the injuries.
CHP Redding said alcohol is not considered a factor at this time.
The crash investigation is ongoing; if you have any information regarding this crash, call the investigating officer at (530) 225-0500.
