The halls of Sistersville Elementary School were filled with color, creativity, and community spirit during the school’s annual art and music showcase, “SES Has Gone Bananas for Art.” The event featured a lively musical performance by the school choir, which will be featured in next week’s edition of the Tyler Star News, and an impressive display of student artwork, showcasing the creativity and talent of young artists.

Throughout the school and on the stage, student-created visual art was on display, offering guests a chance to admire a wide range of artistic styles and projects developed during the year.

The celebration also brought exciting news from the regional art scene. Sistersville Elementary proudly announced that students Abigail Beaver and Emily Bartrug had their work featured in the Youth Art Month Show in Parkersburg. Abigail earned first place in the Elementary 3-D division, a notable achievement. Both of their pieces have been selected for display at the prestigious Arts Alive event in Charleston on May 2. The school hopes to have even more pieces chosen for the statewide showcase.

A special highlight of the evening was the digital media program cover, designed by fifth grader Wyatt Owens. His original design helped set the tone for the show and his work was met with praise and appreciation. Thank you, Wyatt, for your hard work and creativity,” said art instructor Mrs. Olaru.

Mrs. Olaru also extended heartfelt thanks to the many individuals who made this year’s event possible: Joyce Hagerty, Miss Analeigh Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, Mrs. Duke, the SES Art Committee, teachers and staff, volunteers, and everyone who played a role in this year’s show.

The evening served as a reminder of the importance of the arts in education and the power of creativity in young minds. Congratulations to all the students and teachers who helped make this event a success, and don’t forget to check next week’s edition of the Tyler Star News for a wrap-up of the SES Choir presentation.
