HOME OPENER
SIUE faces Valparaiso in its first home contest of the spring season. Last year, Valpo upended the Cougars 4-3. Valpo started the spring season last weekend with a 6-1 loss at home against Cleveland State.

GREAT START
SIUE women’s tennis had a perfect start to the spring season with a 7-0 road victory at Illinois-Springfield. SIUE won the five contested singles matches in straight sets as well as swept the doubles matches

OVC HONORS
The Cougars began the season on the right track with weekly awards from the Ohio Valley Conference. Jill Lambrechts, the team’s No. 1 singles player, was honored as the OVC Player of the Week. Lambrechts joined Jordan Schifano as the OVC Doubles Team of the Week.

NEW FACES
Stefaniya Anikina collected a victory her collegiate debut, a 6-3, 6-3 win over Niamh Grogan of Illinois-Springfield. She joined Amelia Gorman for a doubles win at No. 2 doubles against UIS. Cydney Rogers and Chloe Koons also played their first spring matches with the Cougars, winning at No. 3 doubles. Rogers accepted a forfeit from UIS at No. 6 singles.
