The Colony Creek floodplain may receive some upgrades thanks to a grant from the state Department of Ecology.

In August, the Skagit Conservation District obtained a $184,000 Floodplains By Design grant, which with required matching funds will provide funding for modeling and collecting data on a large-scale restoration of the creek.
