Social Security Income December: When will SSA payments will be coming next month?

Social Security Income (SSI) recipients are anticipating their December payment date as November comes to an end.

Although SSI payments are typically made on a consistent date each month, variations can occur due to weekends and bank holidays.

Recipients are advised to stay informed about the specific payment date for November, as it may differ slightly from previous months.

Social Security disability benefits payments are distributed on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month, with the payment date determined by the recipient’s birth date.

The schedule, implemented by the Social Security Administration (SSA) in May 1997, is as follows:

  • Second Wednesday: Payment for those born from the first to the 10th of the month.
  • Third Wednesday: Payment for those born from the 11th to the 20th of the month.
  • Fourth Wednesday: Payment for those born from the 21st to the 31st of the month.

Recipients who started receiving payments before May 1997 receive benefits on the third of each month.

This means that December 2023, payment dates are:

  • December 13: For those born from the first to the 10th.
  • December 20: For those born from the 11th to the 20th.
  • December 27: For those born after the 20th.

Extra payment in December

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients also receive their January 2024 payment on December 29, as January 1, 2024, is a holiday.

SSI payments usually go out on the first of the month, resulting in two payments in December (December 1 and December 29) and no payment in January 2024.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, designed to help eligible workers cover monthly expenses based on their work history, are delivered via direct deposit into recipients’ bank accounts.

The staggered payment schedule aims to manage the distribution of benefits throughout the month, ensuring a consistent and efficient process for recipients with varying birth dates.
