Sofia Vergara Responds to Being Sued by Griselda Blanco’s Children

Sofia Vergara’s obsession with Colombian drug queen Griselda Blanco outweighs any case filed against her.

Blanco’s children have sued the 51-year-old actress and Netflix, claiming that the new series is a “unauthorized use of their family’s image and likeness.”

Vergara plays the title role in the biographical crime drama, which was launched on the streaming site earlier this week.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the Modern Family star addressed the case, stating, “I’m trying to understand her from the beginning.”

“I started from being fascinated by her, because she achieved many things that it was impossible for a woman to achieve, even though they were horrific,” she said.

The miniseries’ creator, Eric Newman, told the outlet: “It’s not my first rodeo. “The Escobar family made similar claims [for the TV series Narcos].”

“We had a very specific story we wanted to tell. I believe we told it, and I don’t think it in any way prevents someone else from telling their own version of it.”

In a complaint obtained by TMZ, Blanco’s son Michael Corleone alleged that Griselda took various tales and materials from a series of interviews he conducted about his mother in recent years.

Michael’s siblings supported him in his claims that the streamer infringed their rights by exploiting their photos and likenesses in the show without authorization.
