Pacific Grove Art Center is showcasing work by students from local schools. This month the center is showing Pacific Grove High School capstone portfolios, which will remain on display until June 6. Sophia Schulz, who works in mixed-media, is one of the young artists showcased. Her work above, titled “Buzz,” grabbed the Weekly’s attention for obvious (we hope) reasons. Featured students receive advanced instruction in visual arts at P.G. High, and Advanced Placement art and design students – instructed by Matt Kelly in visual arts and in photography by Zach Weston – are showing a body of work from their AP portfolios. The gallery (at 568 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove) is open noon-5pm Thursday-Friday and noon-4pm Sundays.
