For those looking to get pre-Halloween spooky, the 1922 vampire film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror unspools Thursday at 8 p.m. with a live soundtrack by San Antonio band The Whale and guitarist Dan Carillo. Free, at La Zona Cultural downtown.
Friday at midnight, a Hermann Sons Hall building tour includes sneak peeks at the 113-year-old ballroom, Rathskeller bar, the bowling alley, haunted hallways, unlit staircases, basement chambers and other usually hidden corners. A $20 donation gets you in with the ghosts.
Saturday, gear up for the last Tigres game of the year. The community-minded sandlot baseball team Tigres de San Antonio takes on the South Austin Parakeets, 5:30 p.m. at Martinez Field. There will be chicken enchilada klobasniks from Bexar Kolaches.
Also Saturday, sound artist Pamela Martinez’s exhibition Yanawana: The Wait | Of Water closes with a reception at Mercury Project starting at 7 p.m. and a special performance at 9:30 p.m.
The City of San Antonio is set to celebrate the official reopening of Broadway on Saturday! (Lower Broadway, to be specific.) Mayor Ron Nirenberg will be on hand to kick off the day at 1:30 p.m., followed by the River North Block Party from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., which will feature local beers, bites and free B-cycle bike rentals to explore the area. San Antonio Report co-founder Robert Rivard will emcee the party.
Saturday and Sunday, Muertos Fest takes over Hemisfair. The lineup of bands and DJs includes Girl in a Coma, Jesse Borrego’s band Tribú and Mariachis Campanas de America. The free two-day event runs Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday noon to 9 p.m.
