South Carolina Aquarium dives into the holiday season with festive programs and conservation tips

Holiday cheer is spilling everywhere throughout the Lowcountry, aquariums included.

The South Carolina Aquarium is bringing in the holiday season with seasonal programs, which started Friday.

The holiday programming includes dive shows featuring festive elves daily in their Great Ocean Tank, the deepest saltwater tank in North America, according to the aquarium, feeding stingrays, scavenger hunts, and a potential visit from Santa.

Aquarium team members are more than excited to bring the holiday spirit to the Lowcountry.

“Well, we’re excited to share all of our excitement about the holidays with our guests,” said Meghan Galipeau, an educator with the South Carolina Aquarium.

“And as always, we want all of our guests to leave here with an enhanced sense of respect for the environment that we share with all of the animals that they get to learn about here. And also give them some tips on how they can be conservation stewards in their environment and every day.”

The holiday programming will run through the end of the year.
