SOUTH ORANGE-MAPLEWOOD, NJ — It’s music to South Orange and Maplewood’s ears.

Earlier this week, the NAMM Foundation announced the recipients of its 2024 Best Communities for Music Education Awards. The national awards recognize K-12 schools and school districts throughout the United States for maintaining the “highest commitment to producing exceptional music programs.”

This year’s list included the South Orange-Maplewood Public School District – the first time it’s earned the award.

“These leaders offer an extraordinary model of teaching that ignites a foundation of success we can all honor and celebrate,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO.
