“Ten Squared,” an annual fundraising exhibit and sale for Southold Historical Museum, is seeking entries for its 2024 exhibition, “After the Peconic Bay Impressionists.”

In this non-juried exhibition, artists are invited to submit pieces that are 10” x 10”. Each work will be sold for $100, half of which will benefit the Southold Historical Museum.

The online exhibit and sale will be July 15 through  August 31, 2024.

At the turn of the 20th Century, artists were drawn to the East End for its light and beauty. The early painters were Irving Ramsay Wiles and Edith and Henry Prellwitz. Some other notable North Fork artists included Caroline M. Bell, Julia Wickham, Whitney M. Hubbard, and Otto Joseph Kurth.

The painters not only painted en plein air, but also painted still lifes, portraits, and genre art. A century later, artists are still coming to the East End to paint. This exhibit will feature the new Peconic Bay Artists of the 21st Century.

Artists are invited to submit up to 3 works that measure 10” x 10,” not including a thin frame. All mediums are accepted. Art should be dry and hang ready.

The museum is asking artists to attach a label to the back of the artwork with Artist Name, Title, and Medium.

Finished, dry and hangable 10” x 10” works are due with submission forms in the Southold Historical Museum office at the Prince Building, 54325 Main Road, Southold between Monday, June 10 and Friday, June 14, 2024, during office hours (10 am-2pm).

Due to holidays and staff availability no late entries will be accepted. Unsold work must be retrieved by Friday, September 13, 2024 or will be recycled.
