COLUMBUS, Ohio — A program that helps older Ohioans become more digitally literate is getting some extra help.
The Central Community House is accepting a $30,000 check from Spectrum.
During the pandemic, the group launched the Technology Assistance Program (TAP) to help older people learn how to navigate technology to prevent social isolation during the pandemic. To date, the program has helped about 225 Ohioans and the organization says nearly all of them say it’s helped their social life in one way or another.
“Being able to grow that relationship and continue to serve more people every year is great. Over 220 people this year with waitlists that we can’t keep up with shows that we’ve built something that not only is needed, but brings joy to people’s lives,” said Central Community House executive director, Tamar Forrest.
Since 2020, Spectrum has awarded $75,000 in grants to the Central Community House. And last year alone, it provided more than $1 million in digital education grants nationwide.
Charter Communications is the parent company of both Spectrum and Spectrum News 1.
