A speeding hit-and-run driver slammed into an NYPD car in Queens, sending two cops to the hospital, police said Wednesday.
The driver, behind the wheel of a dark-colored sedan with Texas license plates, fled the scene and is being sought.
The officers were on patrol when they attempted to pull over the driver, who had run several red lights and was speeding south on College Point Blvd. in College Point, about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.
But the driver refused to stop, slamming into the cruiser near 32nd Ave. The driver kept going and was last seen heading west on Northern Blvd., police said,
The officers were taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, where they were treated and released. Both suffered head injuries, with one needing stitches. His partner also suffered injuries his wrist and legs.
The NYPD released surveillance footage of the dark-colored car, possibly a Honda Civic from eight to 10 years ago, on Wednesday and asked the public’s help tracking down the vehicle and its driver. The car has tinted windows and Texas plates adorned with the words “Lone Star.”
