Spring Fashion Shows in the Twin Cities


It’s time to take in the looks of the season IRL. Even though Fashion Week Minnesota is taking some time to regroup this spring, Black Fashion Week MN returns for its eighth year, along with a handful of other returning shows. Here’s the lineup for events happening across the Twin Cities.

Black Fashion Week MN: Streets are Watchin

Black Fashion Week may be scaled back a bit this year, but the group’s events are still sizzling. The week kicks off with Streets Are Watchin, a show featuring streetwear styles from designers like No Excuses Brand, Diety, The Lowend, and Dios Giovanni, in the fashion-forward W Minneapolis. Black Fashion Week MN: M.A.D.E.

BFWMN’s closing event, the Minnesota Arts and Designers Exhibition (M.A.D.E.), will showcase the fashion of renowned designers at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Works from designers Kiara Gomes, Jessica Khupe, Sonelle, Marques Armstrong, Jordan Carpenter, and more will be featured with the celebrated exhibition Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys as the backdrop. Native Nations Fashion Night

Native Nations Fashion Night’s runway show, I Am Water, highlights the important symbolism water holds in Native communities, representing the strength and adaptability of Native communities. The show features designers Sage Davis, Lavender Doris, Shannon Gustafson, and Delina White. Attendees can explore specialty designs, accessories, and jewelry at the designers’ marketplace before the show. Joynoelle Presents Wanderlust

Joy Teiken, head of local atelier Joynoelle, introduces her new collection, Wanderlust, this spring. Inspired by a love of travel and escape, Teiken will showcase the dreamy collection along with hats by Karen Morris Millinery, looks by Ramadhan Designs, and menswear pieces by Russell Bourrienne. Winner’s Circle: The Kentucky Derby Party

The second annual Winner’s Circle presented by local hat pro Karen Morris features a runway fashion show with creative director Grant Whittaker as well as best hat and outfit competitions, a silent auction, and a viewing of the 151st Kentucky Derby. Evolve: Midsummer Night’s Dream Fashion Show

Normally part of Fashion Week Minnesota, Evolve prevails this year! The Fitting Room’s annual show features all local designers and their capsule collections as imagined by A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Designers featured in the runway show and marketplace include Dare to Darling, Way the Label, Alma Mia, Moongold Goods, Scott J Lehmann, Jordynn Marie Brands, Danielle Everine, and Jean Manrique. The Oval Room

Floral and fashion event and design company Sip ‘n Bloom and stylist Amy Seeman bring the legacy of The Oval Room, the legendary Dayton’s space, to Northeast Minneapolis.
