SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – On Friday, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and the Health Department tested the water quality at the pools.
Officials checked the chlorine, pH levels, and the clarity of the water, making sure they could see the bottom of the pool.
All the tests came back good, so outdoor public pools will be opening for Memorial Day Weekend.
After this weekend, the pools will begin operating on their regular schedules. The two indoor pools, Chesterfield and Doling Family Center are open seven days a week.
”We want to make sure it’s a safe and fun experience for all the patrons. Like I said, we work closely with the pool operators to make sure that if we find any discrepancy or the chemical levels aren’t where they are supposed to be, we work with them on their corrective measures on what they need to add to adjust those levels so that it’s safe for the patron,” said Eric Marcol with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.
On Monday, the Fassnight, Silver Springs, and McGee-McGregor pools will be open and have a splash and sizzle event for Memorial Day.
If you bring a canned food donation, admission for everyone is just $1. The food donations will go to Ozarks Food Harvest to help families in the area.
