‘Squid Game’ Star Hoyeon Leads Korean Thriller ‘Hope’ with Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander

Hoyeon, a Korean actress and model who has been nominated for an Emmy, will star in the upcoming Korean thriller Hope with Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender.

The film’s director will be Na Hong-Jin, who is known for the 2016 hit The Wailing.

According to Deadline, this will be Hoyeon’s first movie on Netflix since the hit Squid Game.

Hoyeon will play a policewoman in a made-up harbor town called Hopo Port, where “residents find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they have never seen before.”

The news source says that Fassbender and Vikander, who are married, will both speak English in the movie and “wanted to be in it because they liked the director’s previous work.”

Since The Light Between Oceans, this will be the couple’s second movie together.

Hope will start filming sometime in 2024 in Korea.
