Deputies in St. Bernard Parish are working to track down leads after seven cars were reported stolen in one night. The sheriff’s office sent surveillance video to WDSU of the people they believe hit different neighborhoods — just miles apart — around midnight Tuesday. The sheriff believes the same people are responsible for all seven thefts and says, based on evidence they have, he thinks they’re operating as a group out of New Orleans. At last update, two of the cars have now been recovered. Those two actually belong to a husband and wife. Meanwhile, detectives prioritize finding the other cars and the people responsible for stealing them. “It’s top, top priority. I have probably my entire detective bureau that’s out in New Orleans East right now working with state police, the NOPD. We take these things personal; we’re not used to this kind of activity here in St. Bernard Parish,” said Sheriff James Pohlmann. A reminder from the sheriff, too, to always make sure your car is locked and doesn’t have anything valuable inside of it.
