An independent, student-produced, short film describing the newest building on St. John’s University’s Queens, NY, campus is one of several screening at the Society for Film and Visual Arts (SFVA) Film Festival scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, beginning at 3 p.m. in The Little Theatre.

Directed and produced by St. John’s student Elijah Croom, the 15-minute film, St. Vincent Health Sciences Center, describes the origin and impact of the state-of-the-art St. Vincent Health Sciences Center that opened in September 2024. The newly constructed, $106-million, 70,000-square-foot building academic center is home to students in the University’s Nursing, Physician Assistant, and Radiologic Sciences programs. In its first year of operation, the building is transforming the landscape of health sciences education and research at the 102-acre campus.

The St. Vincent Health Sciences Center also marks a milestone for the Department of Campus Facilities and Services at St. John’s, highlighting a state-of-the-art environment that promotes sustainability, efficiency, and excellence in education. The film is a visual tour of the modern, energy-efficient building, which features geothermal heating and cooling, advanced labs, and flexible learning spaces. Featuring interviews with administrators, faculty and students, the film highlights St. John’s commitment to creating an innovative and inspiring campus for all.
