Star of ‘Bling Empire’ Anna Shay Dies at Age 62

After suffering a stroke, Bling Empire star Anna Shay has sadly passed away, as reported by Variety. Her age was given as 62.

Anna was raised in Japan by her American businessman father, Edward Shay, and Japanese mother, Ai Oizumi. Anna’s dad started the company Pacific Architects and Engineers, which works for the military worldwide.

“It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke,” said the statement provided by Shay’s family. “Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things. Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but never forgotten.”

Anna’s Bling Empire co-star Kevin Kreider posted a tribute to her on Instagram, writing, “So unexpected and wished when I saw you last for lunch, I would have taken a moment to smell the roses and had one last adventure with you.”

Anna Shay’s brother Allen became CEO of Pacific Architects after their late father passed away in 1995. After eventually selling the business to Lockheed Martin in 2006, the siblings inherited their parents’ riches.

Along with other Asian American socialites headquartered in Los Angeles, including Kane Lim, Kim Lee, and Jaime Xie, Shay shot to prominence in 2021 as a cast member on Netflix’s reality TV series Bling Empire. Many viewers saw parallels between the play and the blockbuster movie Crazy Rich Asians.
