Starr Clarifies AI Rumors On Lennon’s Vocals In New Beatles Song

Ringo Starr is setting the record straight on the issue of him and Paul McCartney using AI to recreate John Lennon’s voice in ‘Now and Then.’ The Beatles drummer addressed this in an interview with AARP magazine, discussing his collaboration with McCartney to produce the track. The pair, along with the late George Harrison, reconnected to release the demo, which featured vocals Lennon recorded before his death. “When we came to make what would be the last Beatles’ record, it was a demo that John had, and we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI. Then we can mix the record”, McCartney told BBC ‘Radio 4’ in June 2023. Fans misunderstood how the AI was utilized, which frustrated Starr, and stated that they only used a form of AI to generate Lennon’s voice. He explained, “Paul and I would not have done that. It’s a beautiful song and a nice way to finally close that door.”
