State governments could revolutionize health-care data

In the United States, data relating to test results, medical conditions and previous treatments are scattered across different hospitals, test centres and physicians’ offices. This makes it almost impossible for clinicians to arrive at fully informed medical decisions, or to do the research that could revolutionize treatment outcomes. We propose that state governments should mandate centralized access to all patient-health records.
