A Hot Springs woman was arrested after she was allegedly found to be driving a stolen car early Friday morning.
Ashley Nicole Castle, 36, who lists a Fairwood Circle address, was arrested shortly after 4 a.m. Friday and charged with theft of property, punishable by three to 10 years in prison.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs police Officer James Yerina saw a maroon 2016 Nissan Maxima traveling south on Central Avenue, and a check of the license plate showed it was stolen out of Hot Springs.
Yerina stopped the vehicle in the 400 block of Higdon Ferry Road, and he detained the driver, identified as Castle, and passenger. Castle told officers she had “picked the vehicle up for a friend” named Shawn on Oct. 28 who was arrested at Walmart, 1601 Malvern Ave., and she “has not heard from him since.”
The vehicle was reported stolen on Nov. 28, and Castle was transported to the Garland County Detention Center.
The passenger was released without charges.
