The Stratford Performing Arts is putting on a beautiful classic! “Mary Poppins” will run November 16th and 17th in the Stratford Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5 at the Door.

Senior Abbie Wigley, starring in the title role of Mary Poppins, with the help of her lifelong friend and Jack-of-all-trades, Bert, played by sophomore Aryah Tackett, brings her whimsy and charm to number 17 Cherry Tree Lane, which has lost its essence of what a family should be.

In 1910 London, George Banks, played by junior Carter Clark, and his wife Winifred Banks, played by senior Ivorie Mounsey, are trying to keep their household up to the “Precision and Order” of societies demanding standards with the help of their sassy housekeeper, played by senior Rachael Vandiver, and quirky houseboy, played by junior Zoel Esparza.

Meanwhile, Jane and Michael Banks, played by 5th graders Maddie Caton and Devon Hood, after once again running off their nanny, write an advertisement for who they would consider to be an ideal replacement! Beyond their wildest imaginings, she turns out to be “Practically Perfect”, taking their family on a journey of growth, magic, and love with a host of other characters from Mr. Banks’ former nanny, the Holy Terror, Miss Andrews, played by 8th grader, Ella Lister, to the statue Neleus, played by freshman Abby McMillan, Valentine, the doll comes to life, played by 5th grader Ella Hall, and Mrs. Corry in her talk shop, played by 8th grader Nora Hall.
